Painthing on the Möve - August 27th, 2024

The catalog “Painthing on the Möve” was produced on the occasion of an exhibition series by the same name. Painting on the Möve included the following three exhibitions between Thomas Dane Gallery (London) and Corbett vs. Dempsey (Chicago): 

1. Albert Oehlen (October 11 - November 26, 2011 at Thomas Dane)
2. Chicago Imagists, 1966-1973 (October 11 - November 26, 2011 at Thomas Dane)
3. Albert Oehlen (October 28 - December 3, 2011 at Corbett vs. Dempsey, Chicago)

John Corbett and Albert Oehlen co-curated “Chicago Imagists, 1966-1973” for Thomas Dane Gallery at 11 Duke Street while Oehlen had an exhibition down the street at Thomas Dane’s new location down the street and a sister-exhibition at Corbett vs. Dempsey that opened later the same month. For his exhibitions, Oehlen exhibited works from his “Conduction” series, banned for improvisational composer Lawrence ‘Butch’ Morris. “Chicago Imagists, 1966-1973” at Thomas Dane Gallery included works by hometown favorites Art Green, Christina Ramberg, Ed Flood, Ed Paschke, Jim Nutt, Karl Wirsum, Philip Hanson, Robert Lostutter, and Roger Brown.

Corbett vs. Dempsey will open “Hubcap Diamond Star Halo” on September 14, 2024, celebrating twenty-years of groundbreaking exhibition making in Chicago. “Hubcap Diamond Star Halo” is open until November 2, 2024: a star-studded exhibition and gala program of events with weekly rotating shows in the North Gallery and multiple special publications.
